If these Wrigley walls could talk ...

After getting a shot of the marquee – and yes, the requisite selfie in front of it – I headed to the wall. There were several people admiring the work as well as a few writing down messages of their own. I struck up conversations with three different people, the most heartfelt discussion with a guy in his early 20s who used to watch games with his grandmother, who died three years ago. I, along with two of his friends, formed some human scaffolding so he could write out a message to her toward the top of the wall. He was pretty emotional when he finished. I thought about the people in my life who are no longer ...

Jon Gruden on Monday Night Football makes my ear hurt

When I was a kid, the Chicago Bears didn't play on Monday Night Football too often. Bears throw away throwback jerseys

I'm normally a fan of simplicity when it comes to team uniforms – the Los Angeles Dodgers, North Carolina basketball, the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Indianapolis Colts. Even the Bears current jerseys and helmets look great. But when the Bears do the throwback thing? Ugh. They look like the "Boys' Football" costume you'd buy for Halloween at Zayre in 1978, the one right next to the "Farmer in the Dell" get-up and the "Magician" ensemble. Just awful. Although they've stuck with a similar look for decades, a quick look at their uniform history illustrates the fact that they do have some other options. It would be nice if they ditched "The Longest Yard" look and moved on to something else.
